The Quintessence of The Plateau

It is best known for its cold climate, volcanoes and fragrant pine proud. Few people go into the account in its northern and southern ends have hot areas. The southern corner, a little more or less 10 meters high, is an eminently tropical region. However, on the mountainous area, Quetzaltenango is the quintessence of the Guatemalan highlands.

A moderate altitudes of about 1.700 meters, Quetzaltenango Huehuetenango borders. The end on the south side was demarcated along the river Ocosito. Much of the western boundary is the course of the Rio Naranjo, but the other part is as capricious as the course of the eastern boundary, which runs on high peaks.

Thus, enclosed irregular boundaries, the way the department turned out to be a steep walk. The upper, for example, opens to San Marcos, the heel of Achilles forms the boundary with Totonicapán, the carcañal is the icy mountains of Chuatroj separating it from Solola, while the plant form of the boundary line in Retalhuleu. Its location makes it belong to the west of the Republic, where the volcanic mountain range crosses the entire width.
