The Camino de Santiago is promoted in Australia
The Xunta de Galicia has developed in Australia a promotion campaign and put in value of the Camino de Santiago in the framework of a trade mission organized by the Chamber of Commerce of Vigo and which also involved the University of Santiago.
The Director Manager of the ‘Jacobean’, path Triguero, has spearheaded the institutional representation of the regional government in this campaign that increased interest in pilgrimages are raising in this country. This year, 1,388 Australian pilgrims gathered his ‘Compostela’ in Santiago.
In this promotional action, the Director Manager had various meetings with authorities and local leaders of institutions related to tourism and culture, as the general consul of Spain in Melbourne, Gerardo Bugallo; or the director of the Cervantes Institute in Sydney, Isidoro Castellanos, among others.
