Reformer Tower in Guatemala

Reformer Tower is a metal structure which was brought from the United States. It was inaugurated on 19 July 1935 with the name “Memorial Tower on July 19, day of the celebration of the birth centenary of General Justo Rufino Barrios. The inspiration for its construction was the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Reformer Tower is 75 meters high.
This structure is one of the symbols of the Guatemalan capital. At the height of the tower is located a bell that was donated by the Government of Belgium and, according to tradition, it should sound just for the anniversary of General Justo Rufino Barrios.
In 1986 he placed a beacon navigation aid of air travel to La Aurora International Airport.
In 1994 the American Air Lines Airlines donated a new lighthouse that also serves to guide planes in flight.
