Tour to Ixchel Museum in Guatemala
Ixchel Museum of the Trade Indigenous

The museum was founded in 1973 as a private nonprofit institution. Its name was inspired by Ixchel, Mayan goddess of fertility and the tissue in the pre-Hispanic era. Ixchel Museum is one object of the most famous tourist in Guatemala City.
The museum has formed an important textile collection with pieces dating from the late nineteenth century to today, from approximately 120 communities, located mainly in the highlands of Guatemala.
In the museum, two permanent collections of paintings: that of Carmen Pettersen, consisting of 61 watercolors that illustrate regional costumes of the Maya and 48 oil paintings by Andrew Curruchiche, artist Maya-Cakchiquel Comalapa.
