The Spectacular Magic of the Caribbean

It is the only department of the Republic of Guatemala that borders the Atlantic. It is therefore the one representing the Caribbean with all the vigor and exuberance that is expected in this corner of the Americas.
Are in Lake Izabal and the bay’s largest marina. Its plains are traversed by the largest river. The marshes more affluent, the most intricate network of surface current and the highest percentage of water bodies are on their fertile soil. Its forests are the most genuine representation of the remote rainforest in them is one of the richest floristic diversity of Guatemala. In their natural environments wildlife lives most unusual and distinctive.
An amazing story
But for the existence of three mighty mountain ranges, which are presented as so many ribs oriented northeast to southwest, the whole department would be a vast plateau. The Sierra de Santa Cruz, another of the Mico, which is an extension of the de Las Minas, and the Merendon.
Alternating with them are so many plains, long, oriented in the same direction. The first runs the River Sarstoon, on the second are the lakes and Golfete Izabal and Rio Dulce, and the third winding the Motagua River. Read the rest of this entry »
