Lake Amatitlan

Amatitlan is a typical mountain lake of Guatemala. Because of its proximity to the city of Guatemala, its accessibility and low cost of visit, a site heavily frequented. Suffers a severe environmental deterioration, but this does not prevent spending many hours rowing, fishing, photographing, sunbathing, and studying their birds … Or simply relaxing!

The lake basin is a true pan boiling. Solfataras arise everywhere, fumaroles and hot springs. Many of the latter have a reputation for medicinal, so add several hundred visitors daily. In some places, the hot springs have been transformed into recreation centers, equipped with heated pools and a wide variety of facilities for the newcomer.
